Interns at PGIMS Take the Hippocratic Oath; Dr. Deepanshi Tops the 2021 MBBS Batch
Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Dr. H.K. Agarwal inaugurated the one-year internship program for the MBBS 2021 batch, today.
Rohtak, May 13, 2026: Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Dr. H.K. Agarwal inaugurated the one-year internship program for the MBBS 2021 batch, today.
Chief Guest, Dr. H.K. Agarwal administered the Hippocratic Oath to all the interns. Addressing the interns, VC Dr. Agarwal said that, alongside their own hard work, their parents also deserve congratulations for helping them reach this milestone. He emphasized that while on duty, they must always wear their white coats and keep a stethoscope around their necks.
The white coat, he noted, is not merely a garment but a symbol of the patient's trust and of our own responsibility. He urged the young doctors to minimize their use of mobile phones and social media, to live in the real world, and to spend quality time with their families and friends.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Agarwal advised that one should not be defeated by failure; rather, one should learn from it to achieve success. He further said that they must uphold the oath taken today throughout their lives and always maintain a courteous demeanor toward patients and their families.
Director Dr. S.K. Singhal remarked that this apron serves as a constant reminder of our responsibilities. He urged the interns to contribute to society as both excellent doctors and good human beings. Dean Dr. Ashok Chauhan observed that with the commencement of the internship for the 217 interns of the MBBS 2021 batch, their responsibilities have increased significantly. He emphasized that serving the patient is their foremost duty.
It was announced that within this batch, Dr. Deepanshi secured the first position, Dr. Yash Garg the second, and Dr. Deepali the third. The proceedings of the event were anchored by Dr. Varun Arora, In-charge of the Public Relations Department. On this occasion, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. M.G. Vashishth, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Savita Singhal, along with other officials and intern doctors, were present.
