International Yoga Day 2025 Celebrated at DMC&H

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2025, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) organized a special event titled "Yoga Sangam" as part of the nationwide celebrations of International Yoga Day. The celebrations were held across multiple locations, including the DMC&H College Campus, Dumra Auditorium at the Hospital Campus, and DMC&H College of Nursing, Malakpur.

International Yoga Day 2025 Celebrated at DMC&H

Ludhiana, June 21, 2025: On the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2025, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) organized a special event titled "Yoga Sangam" as part of the nationwide celebrations of International Yoga Day. The celebrations were held across multiple locations, including the DMC&H College Campus, Dumra Auditorium at the Hospital Campus, and DMC&H College of Nursing, Malakpur.
The day began with a vibrant yoga session at the playground of DMC&H College Campus. The session was formally inaugurated by Shri Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, and Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H. On this occasion, Dr. Anurag Chaudhary, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, explained this year’s theme – "Yoga for One Earth, One Health". She highlighted how the theme connects personal wellness with the health of the planet, encouraging a holistic and sustainable lifestyle.
As part of the week-long celebration, a yoga camp was conducted by Dr. Sanjeev Singh Rawat, Senior Yoga Consultant, from June 18 to June 22, 2025. Held at the college campus, the sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from MBBS students and faculty members, who learned practical yoga techniques for physical and mental well-being under his guidance.
The second major yoga session took place at the Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H Hospital Campus, and was inaugurated at 7:00 AM by Shri Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society. He was joined by esteemed dignitaries including Dr. G.S. Wander (Principal), Dr. Bishav Mohan (Chief Cardiologist, HDHI), Dr. Ashima Taneja (Additional Medical Superintendent & Head, Obstetrics & Gynaecology), and Dr. Akash Batta (Associate Professor, Cardiology).
Over 100 participants, including faculty, staff, patients, and their attendants – especially cardiac patients – took part in the event. The atmosphere was filled with energy and positivity as expert instructors Dr. Sanjeev Singh Rawat, Dr. Kalpana, and Dr. Deepak led a comprehensive yoga session involving asanas, breathing techniques, and meditation practices. The session was designed to be inclusive and beneficial for participants of all ages and health conditions.
To conclude the series of events, a special yoga session was also held at DMC&H College of Nursing, Malakpur, where Dr. Sanjeev Singh Rawat conducted a session for nursing students and staff, promoting wellness and mindfulness.
The Yoga Sangam celebration at DMC&H reflected the institution’s strong commitment to health promotion and holistic care, in line with the global message of International Yoga Day – bringing together body, mind, and environment in harmony.
