International Women’s Day Celebrated with Health and Fitness Awareness Session at Ramgarhia Girls College

Ramgarhia Girls College organised an awareness lecture titled “Her Body, Her Power” as part of a series of events celebrating International Women’s Day. The programme aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of women and was organised by the NSS Unit of the college in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under its International Women’s Day 2026 campaign themed “Fit India.” The initiative encouraged students to understand the importance of health, fitness, and self-care in leading a balanced life.

Ludhiana, March 6, 2026: Ramgarhia Girls College organised an awareness lecture titled “Her Body, Her Power” as part of a series of events celebrating International Women’s Day. The programme aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of women and was organised by the NSS Unit of the college in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under its International Women’s Day 2026 campaign themed “Fit India.” The initiative encouraged students to understand the importance of health, fitness, and self-care in leading a balanced life.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests including Dr. J. P. Singh from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana; Balwinder Singh (Administrative Officer, SAI); Sagar Upadhyay (Judo Coach, SAI); Hemraj (Vice President, District Judo Association Ludhiana); and Jaskaran Singh from the Accounts Branch. They were warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur along with NSS Programme Officers Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Prof. Ramandeep Kaur, and Prof. Alka Chauhan.
Delivering a talk on “Nutrition and Hydration Awareness,” Dr. J. P. Singh highlighted that nutritious food and proper hydration are essential for the physical and mental development of women. He stressed that a balanced diet plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health and fitness and encouraged students to adopt healthy eating habits in their daily lives.
During the programme, Sagar Upadhyay, along with athlete Nitin, conducted a yoga session in which students practiced various yoga postures beneficial for maintaining physical fitness and mental well-being. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. In the yoga competition held during the session, Rani secured the first position, Radha won the second position, and Amanpreet achieved the third position for their excellent performance and were awarded prizes.
On the occasion, the Sports Authority of India honoured Dr. J. P. Singh and the Head of the Department of Physical Education, Prof. Harmanjot Kaur, with mementoes in recognition of their contribution. In her concluding remarks, Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur thanked the guests and appreciated the initiative taken by SAI to promote women’s health and fitness on International Women’s Day. She emphasized that “a healthy woman can build a healthy society.” The programme concluded with an interactive session where experts addressed students’ queries, followed by the distribution of refreshments to all participants.
