International Women’s Day Celebrated with Great Fervour at PCM S.D. College for Women

Women Empowerment Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar held a Declamation Contest in collaboration with Alfa Mahendru Foundation on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The topic of the contest was Women Empowerment.

International Women’s Day Celebrated with Great Fervour at PCM S.D. College for Women

Jalandhar, March 9, 2026: Women Empowerment Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar held a Declamation Contest in collaboration with Alfa Mahendru Foundation on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The topic of the contest was Women Empowerment.

Lieutenant Colonel Charushila Jadhav from Indian Army was the chief guest of the day. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Through her inspiring words and reflections drawn from her distinguished service in the armed forces, she encouraged the audience to embrace resilience, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to the nation. She demonstrated her notions through a Powerpoint Presentation. Her presence infused the event with a profound sense of pride, inspiration, and patriotic fervour.
Students eloquently expressed their views on the topic through the powerful theme “I may be delicate, but I am not weak.” Through their speeches and presentations, they highlighted that sensitivity and strength can coexist, and that women possess immense resilience, courage, and determination to overcome societal challenges. Their thoughtful expressions celebrated the spirit of womanhood and reinforced the message that women are capable of shaping their own destinies while contributing significantly to society.
Mohena of B.A. B.Ed Semester II received a Consolation Prize. Guneet of B.A. B.Ed Semester II bagged Second Prize. Jiya of B.Com Semester VI made it to Second Position while Kanishka of B.A. B.Ed Semester II achieved the First Prize.
Dr Seema Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, D.A.V. College, Jalandhar was the chief judge of the event. Mrs Anu Mata, Joint Secretary, Gymkhana Club, Jalandhar and Dr Neena Mittal, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi were the other judges.

Chairman, Alfa Mahendru Foundation, General Secretary, Shri Devi Talab Mandir were also part of this enlightening venture.
The event culminated into a success owing to the efforts of Women Empowerment Cell. 
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar felicitated the endeavours of the Women Empowerment Cell and its Incharge Kawaljit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of History,  Aabroo Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Dr Sandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Dr Anju Bala, Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi and Ms Dolly, Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing were the other members who witnessed the event. The stage was successfully conducted by Shikha Puri, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.
