Jalandhar, May 19, 2025: The Department of Dance of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an International Webinar titled “Tradition and Transition: Changing Contours of Kathak – As an Entrepreneurial Venture”.

The event aimed to explore the evolving landscape of the classical Indian dance form Kathak, particularly focusing on its transformation into a platform for entrepreneurial opportunities in the contemporary world.

The esteemed resource person for the session was Dr. Kristina Luna Doltina, a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Asian & Transcultural Studies, Lithuania. Her insights into the global perception of Kathak and its adaptation in modern times were enlightening. Dr. Doltina highlighted how traditional art forms like Kathak are no longer limited to performance stages but have entered domains such as digital content, cultural consultancy, wellness, and education – providing scope for innovative entrepreneurial ventures.

The session witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and dance enthusiasts from various institutions. Dr. Doltina’s in-depth discussion on the fusion of tradition and innovation in Kathak captivated the audience, prompting a fruitful Question and Answer session that followed.

President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar appreciated the initiative and emphasized the need to align traditional arts with modern entrepreneurial frameworks.

The webinar was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Sugandhi Bhandari, with valuable support from Renu Tandon, Vice-President IIC, and Dr. Renu Bala, Convener IIC. Their collaborative efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event.
