International Webinar on “Impact of Technology on Kathak: Opportunities and Challenges for Entrepreneurship”

Jalandhar, April 13, 2026: The Department of Dance of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised an International Webinar on the topic “Impact of Technology on Kathak: Opportunities and Challenges for Entrepreneurship.”
The session sought to explore the evolving interface between tradition and technology, while also examining new avenues for artistic entrepreneurship in the digital age.
The webinar was graced by the distinguished presence of the resource person, Mr. Quincy Kendall Charles, a renowned Kathak exponent from France, whose engagement with the classical form across cultural contexts lent a unique global perspective to the discourse.
In his insightful address, Charles reflected upon the transformative role of technology in the dissemination, pedagogy, and performance of Kathak. He delineated both the opportunities afforded by digital platforms, such as expanded reach and innovative collaborations and the challenges they pose in preserving the authenticity and rigour of the classical tradition. His deliberations on entrepreneurial possibilities within the realm of performing arts were particularly engaging, inspiring students to envision creative pathways that harmonise tradition with innovation.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who found the session both enlightening and thought-provoking. The interactive exchange that followed further enriched their understanding, making the event a meaningful confluence of art, technology, and enterprise.
