Jalandhar, October 13, 2022: The PG Department of Commerce and Management of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organised an online  International Seminar  under the SEBI-World Investor Week 2022, to raise awareness about the significance of Investor education and protection and highlight the initiatives undertaken by the securities market regulators. This session being initiated by SEBI is in support of India’s “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The resourceperson for the session was Raghunandan Pattnaik, National trainer BFSI, Top Financial expert and Belt Cepified Trainer-USA. He is also a Financial Education Trainer for Govt. Employees, Corporates, faculty as well as students. The program began  with Alka Sharma , Head PG Deptt. Of Commerce & Management acknowledged the presence of Mr. Raghunandan and gave a brief introduction about the financial architecture designed by the capital Market Regulators. She also briefed about the Indian Financial System along with the elements- money, credit and finance. She also put forward the broad components of Indian Financial System i.e. Financial institutions, Financial Services, Financial Instruments and Financial Market. 

Raghunandan Pattnaik in his address, provided a detailed knowledge on the areas, purpose and quantum of financial market instruments.He further told about Rupee Value depreciation and its impact on Consumer, Price Index, Increased cost of expenditure, diminishing currency value were the topics of discussion. The role of SEBI and RBI as regulatory bodies of Indian Financial System was also talked about. 

Pattnaik unfolded various avenues of investments ranging from Asset A to Asset C, Mutual Fund and other financial Instruments .He also explained that the purpose of investment should be wealth creation for retirement, housing, holidays, children's marriage etc. He also advised everyone not to invest in one direction and rather focus on portfolio management adopting a balanced fund approach. The session was concluded with a question/answer session with the audiences and vote of thanks. The whole session was very knowledgable and practical and was attended by 52 staff members of the college both teaching and non teaching.  President Naresh Kumar Budhia, other honourable members of the  Managing Committee and the worthy Principal  Dr.Prof. Pooja Prashar appreciated  the Department of Commerce  for successfully  organizing the seminar.
