Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar  celebrated Sadbhavana Diwas 

Jalandhar, August 20, 2021: The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar observed a two week Swachhta Pakhwara from 7th August to 20th August 2021 to mark the occasion of Sadbhavana Diwas and 75th anniversary of India’s Independence. ‘Clean India, Green India’ mission can only be achieved when our country gets freedom from the bondage of pollution, dirt and diseases, based on this theme the volunteers of NSS Unit participated in various activities. 
First three days’ cleanliness of one’s surroundings and the college campus was done adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines. Plogging was carried out in the next two mornings with the buoyancy to tell the world that littering is not acceptable. NSS volunteers shared that by picking up somebody else’s trash, we seek to instill a sense of guilt in them, only to ensure that they get more responsible with the waste they generate. 
On 12th August, International Youth day - Online Declamation contest and Poster making competitions were organized on the topics – ‘Transforming food systems by reducing food wastage’ and ‘Eat for planet’.
Best out of waste competition was organized on 13th and 14th August, the students-teachers creatively made useful items and teaching aids with plastic, cardboard and other waste material instead of throwing it away. 
Along with patriotic fervor in the air with the nationalistic tunes on Independence day, Poetical Symposium was also conducted on the topic ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’. Next two days Slogan writing competition was organized on ‘Swachhta Pakhwara’.
On 18th and 19th August, Extension lectures were organized by the college alumnae Ms. Vasundhara and Ms. Japleen Kaur on the topics – ‘Trees are the lungs of the world’ and ‘Save Earth, Save life’ respectively.
Tree plantation was done by all the student-teachers near their homes and surroundings on Sadbhavna Diwas. Pledge ceremony was organized in which all took pledge to work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language and also to resolve all differences through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the NSS Unit for organizing all the activities well and for putting in effort to make India more clean and green. He said that it is the responsibility of each one of us to make our earth a better place to live in.
