Chandigarh, September 23, 2015: A 10-day Capacity Building Programme of non-teaching employees of the Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh was inaugurated today by the PU Registrar Col. Guljit Singh Chadha (Retd.).
The programme is being organized from September 23 to October 8 in the Seminar Hall of the Department of Public Administration, PU.
PU fellow Prof. B. S. Ghuman from the Department welcomed the participants and highlighted that both teaching and non-teaching staff have to work in synchronization with each other to make the organization grow. The non-teaching staff needs to be equipped with precise tools to perform their duties efficaciously.
Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration, Dr. Navreet introduced the theme of the programme. The programme would cover topics such as Introduction to University Executive and Administrative Bodies, effective writing, exercises in noting and drafting, Working environment in university, Finance and Accounting in Universities, Admission, Examination, Role of UGC, NAAC, Right to Information, Service and Conduct Rules, Use of Website Portal, and other related topics.
PU Registrar Col. Guljit Chadha in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of the training programme and enthused the participants to get the maximum benefit out of the programme. He said that key non-academic functionaries in the university need to be trained for better administration and also to facilitate the efficient use of various fast growing ICT resources and applications. The programme would build confidence, explore attitudes and increase the knowledge and skills of employees.
Controller of Examinations, Prof Parvinder Singh and President, PUSA (NT) Sh. Deepak Kaushik also spoke on the occasion. They encouraged the participants to become actively engaged in the various course sessions and discussions aiming at enhancing effectiveness at the work place.
