IIM Ahmedabad Director Prof. Bharat Bhasker Delivered Key Remarks at BIMTECH’s ICMC 2025

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, successfully hosted the 14th International Conference on Management Cases (ICMC 2025) from 26 to 28 November 2025. The conference once again reaffirmed its position as a global platform that nurtures thought-provoking teaching and research cases, encourages meaningful dialogue between academia and industry, and inspires new ways of understanding managerial challenges.
This year’s conference was inaugurated in the distinguished presence of Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, who joined as the Chief Guest. His address underscored the enduring importance of case pedagogy in shaping critical and reflective management practitioners. ICMC 2025 featured two keynote sessions. Violetta Gallagher, Product & Publishing Director at Ivey Publishing, delivered a session offering deep insights into global expectations for high-quality teaching cases and the pathways for authors to strengthen their scholarly and pedagogical contributions. The conference also welcomed Rahul Kumar Sharma, Senior Managing Editor at SAGE, whose keynote focused on the evolving landscape of case publishing, editorial expectations, and the emerging opportunities for authors within the expanding domain of practice-driven management scholarship. Together, their reflections helped participants connect global publishing standards with the lived realities of classrooms and organizations.
At ICMC 2025, Prof. Bharat Bhasker said, “This is not just a conference—case study methodology lies at the heart of management education. In today’s volatile corporate environment, it is more essential than ever, because it is through cases that students truly learn what decision-making means.” At the Conference, Ms. Violetta Gallagher said, “Today’s students care deeply about inclusivity, justice, sustainability, and ethics. As case teachers, we must meet them where they are—understanding their needs and bringing cases that resonate with their lived realities.”
Rahul Kumar Sharma said, “Integrity is a crucial pillar of publishing today. As academicians and case authors, we must conduct research responsibly and uphold the highest standards of integrity in all our work.” “For 14 years, ICMC has stood as a testament to BIMTECH’s commitment to meaningful case research and practice-driven management education. The diverse case studies and thoughtful discussions presented this year reflect the evolving realities of business and society, reaffirming the conference’s role as a catalyst for impactful knowledge creation,” said Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH.
This year’s edition brought together more than 100 case authors and practitioners representing countries such as India, Japan, the USA, Thailand, Lithuania, Finland, and the UAE. Over 70 teaching and research cases were showcased across fourteen thematic tracks covering strategic innovation, sustainability, leadership, human dynamics, and transformational change. Through these presentations, panel discussions, and interactive exchanges, ICMC continued to emphasize the value of cases as a pedagogical bridge between theory and practice.
A notable feature of the conference was the 6th Case Master Development Workshop titled “Advance Your Case Writing with Ivey Publishing.” Conducted on 28 November 2025, the workshop was facilitated by Gallagher and guided participants through the process of crafting analytically rich and engaging cases and teaching notes. It also demystified Ivey Publishing’s submission and review procedures, offering practical insights and personalized feedback. The workshop drew enthusiastic participation, especially from early-career scholars and first-time case writers, reflecting the growing interest in case-based pedagogy across disciplines.
ICMC 2025 also hosted an enriching “Meet the Editors” forum featuring global editorial leaders such as Dr. Eric Dolansky (Editor-in-Chief, Case Research Journal), Dr. Mike Annett (Associate Editor, The Case Journal, Emerald), Dr. Virginia Bodolica (Editor-in-Chief, Emerging Markets Case Studies, Emerald), and Dr. Anjan Ghosh (Senior Associate Editor, FIIB Review and SAJBMC, Sage). Their candid reflections on what makes a case publishable, the nuances of editorial decision-making, and the future of case scholarship offered invaluable guidance to participants aiming to publish in international outlets.
As part of its commitment to recognizing excellence, ICMC 2025 conferred nine prestigious case awards sponsored by Ivey Publishing, SAGE, and The Case Centre. These awards celebrated creativity, methodological rigor, contextual richness, and real-world impact—qualities that lie at the heart of effective case writing and teaching.
The 14th edition of the International Conference on Management Cases concluded with renewed energy and inspiration, strengthening BIMTECH’s long-standing mission to promote a vibrant global community of case authors and educators. By bringing together diverse voices, emerging scholars, and seasoned experts, ICMC 2025 once again demonstrated how case pedagogy continues to shape managerial thought and practice in meaningful ways. The 15th edition of ICMC will be held in the first week of December 2026 and will be organised in collaboration with the European Union-funded project KODECET.
