Idea Ignition 1.0, Inspiring the Innovators of Tomorrow

Chandigarh, May 5, 2025:BioNEST and E-YUVA, in collaboration with the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC-PU), Panjab University, and Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26 TM, Chandigarh, today hosted "Idea Ignition 1.0"—a unique school-level outreach initiative that provides a vibrant platform to inspire scientific curiosity and entrepreneurial thinking among young students.

As part of the daylong event, the students of classes 7th to 9th participated in Poster Competition on the theme of “Science in Everyday Life.” The students were encouraged to express how science influences our daily lives and to envision its potential in addressing real-world challenges. The young innovators brought their ideas to life and transformed complex concepts into engaging visual narratives through conceptually rich posters, impressing everyone with their ability to blend creativity, clarity, and scientific relevance. Their enthusiasm and artistic flair not only reflected a deep understanding of science in everyday life but also set a dynamic tone for the day—brimming with innovation, inspiration, and collaborative knowledge-sharing.
Addressing the students as a special guest, PU Director, Research and Development Cell, Prof. Meenakshi Goyal shared her perspectives on the role of science, innovation, and entrepreneurship in shaping the future. Her motivating words encouraged students to think beyond textbooks and explore the practical applications of their knowledge.
The initiative not only fostered early-stage scientific thinking and creativity but also served as a platform for students to connect with mentors and begin their journey toward becoming future innovators. The competition was judged by Ar. Inder Gulati, Architect at Panjab University.
Earlier in his welcome address, President of the Institution’s Innovation Council-PU and Project Leader at PU BioNEST Prof. Rohit Sharma emphasised the transformative power of nurturing young innovators and fostering scientific curiosity from an early age—laying the groundwork for a future led by creativity and purpose. He encouraged students to view science not just as a subject, but as a powerful tool for transformation and societal impact. He also underlined the importance of grassroots innovation—where simple yet powerful ideas, born in classrooms and communities, can spark groundbreaking change.
To honor the dedication and tireless efforts of the key contributors behind the success of Idea Ignition 1.0, a felicitation ceremony was organised. The Principal, Dr. Meenakshi Sharma and Ms. Deepika Prashar, PGT and Vice-Principal, were honoured on the occasion. Medals and certificates were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, along with consolation certificates to other deserving participants.
To celebrate each student’s dedication and inspire their passion for science, BioNEST ensured that no participant left without recognition or encouragement. Every student received a participation kit, symbolizing their boundless curiosity and potential.
Through "Idea Ignition 1.0", BioNEST and E-YUVA, Panjab University, ignited the entrepreneurial spirit in young minds, offering them a platform to explore and transform innovative ideas into reality.
