HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan urges Law Students to incorporate human sensibilities into their personality
Nilokheri, February 26, 2026: Even after almost eight decades of independence, justice in the country has not been fully accessible to the common people in indigenous languages. Future lawyers and their teachers should work with determination to change this situation. If the new generation is determined, the dominance of English, a symbol of slavery, in the judicial system can be reduced and justice can be made simpler and more accessible. Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), expressed these sentiments while addressing law students and faculty members as the Chief Guest at the “Lex Fiesta – Crafting The Advocates of Tomorrow” program organized by the School of Legal Studies of CGC University.
Earlier, Dr. Jai Prakash Yadav, Director of the Law Department, and Dr. Gurdeep welcomed Dr. Chauhan with a bouquet of flowers. Faculty members and students also warmly welcomed the chief guest.
In his inspiring address, Dr. Chauhan said that studying law is not only a means to build a career, but also a responsibility to establish justice and moral values in society. He urged students to understand the intricacies of law and to incorporate human sensitivity into their personalities.
The HIRD Director said that future lawyers are the backbone of the country's judicial system. If they embrace honesty, transparency, and dedication, the judicial system will become stronger and trust in society will be maintained.
Calling Hindi his mother tongue, Dr. Chauhan led the students in a pledge to use Indian languages, including Hindi, more and more, in judicial and administrative work. He said that expression in the mother tongue enhances a person's self-confidence and plays a vital role in making justice accessible to the public. In the end, the students interacted with the chief guest through a question-and-answer session.
