Heavy Rains Damage Key Road in Indora; MLA Malendra Rajan Seeks Urgent Relief Measures

Dharamshala, July 21, 2025: Incessant rains in the region have caused significant damage to the main road connecting the panchayats of Majra, Damtal, and Mohtali in the Indora Assembly constituency of kangra district. A section of the Civil Enclave Road was washed away following a sharp rise in the water level of Chakki Khad, cutting off vital connectivity for residents of these areas.

Upon receiving information about the disruption, Indora MLA Malendra Rajan promptly visited the affected site and reviewed the situation alongside district officials. Concerned about the safety of local villagers and schoolchildren, the MLA reached out to Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, to seek immediate support.

In a humanitarian move facilitated by the Deputy Commissioner, schoolchildren have been permitted to pass through the Military Hospital campus until the road is restored. This arrangement was made after discussions with the military hospital commander.

MLA Rajan also instructed Railway Department engineers to assess the condition of a nearby bridge to ensure public safety and prevent any potential accidents. He informed that the Public Works Department (PWD) has already prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹22 crore, which has been submitted to senior authorities for approval. Road restoration work will commence as soon as the budget is sanctioned.

"The government and administration are fully committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of the people," the MLA assured.

SDM Dr. Surinder Thakur and officials from the Public Works Department were also present during the inspection.
