Rohtak, April 7, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Health Department at the Mini Secretariat, Rohtak, to assess the progress of ongoing public health programmes and to further strengthen healthcare services in the district.
It was observed during the meeting that Rohtak continues to perform better than the state average on several key health indicators, reflecting effective implementation and strong field-level efforts. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the work of health teams and noted significant improvements in maternal and child healthcare.
He identified three key focus areas to further enhance health outcomes: continuous monitoring of high-risk pregnancies and safe deliveries under the Safe Motherhood Mission; improvement in maternal nutrition and reduction in low birth weight under the First 1000 Days Nutrition Programme; and early detection and long-term management of lifestyle diseases under the Healthy Rohtak Initiative.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to take all necessary steps to improve the sex ratio, emphasizing strict monitoring and legal action against any irregularities, including scrutiny of suspected cases in private healthcare facilities as per law.
Reviewing maternal and child health services, he highlighted that the district has achieved high institutional delivery rates and directed that every mother and newborn must remain under observation for a minimum of 48 hours post-delivery, in both government and private health institutions.
He further instructed that all cases of maternal and child deaths must be thoroughly analyzed to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Continuous monitoring of antenatal care and maternal nutrition was also emphasized.
The meeting noted that approximately 18% of pregnancies in the district are classified as high-risk, indicating effective screening. The Deputy Commissioner directed that these cases be closely monitored at the block level through ANMs and ASHA workers to ensure safe outcomes.
Progress under the National Programme for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was also reviewed. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the improvement in screening coverage and directed that all identified patients receive regular treatment and follow-up.
In view of the upcoming monsoon season, he instructed officials to intensify preventive measures against dengue and malaria, including identification of vulnerable areas, enhanced surveillance, and public awareness campaigns.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that while Rohtak has achieved commendable progress, continued focus on quality healthcare delivery, effective monitoring, and community outreach will further strengthen the health system and ensure better outcomes for all citizens.
The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chandra, DDPO Rajpal Chahal, District Attorney Surender Pahwa, DEO Manjeet Malik, DEEO Diljeet Singh, DPO Deepika Saini, Deputy Civil Surgeon (TB) Dr. Vikas, and other senior health and administrative officials.
