Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that the Haryana Government is actively facilitating self-employment opportunities for widowed women to ensure their financial security and independence. Under the Widow Grant Scheme, eligible widowed women are being provided bank loans of up to ₹3 lakh to support sustainable livelihood initiatives.

Rohtak, January 14, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that the Haryana Government is actively facilitating self-employment opportunities for widowed women to ensure their financial security and independence. Under the Widow Grant Scheme, eligible widowed women are being provided bank loans of up to ₹3 lakh to support sustainable livelihood initiatives.

 

The Deputy Commissioner informed that widowed women with an annual income of up to ₹3 lakh are eligible to avail benefits under the scheme. The applicant must be between 18 and 60 years of age, a resident of Haryana, and should not be a defaulter in any previous loan.

 

He further stated that the interest charged on the bank loan is reimbursed by the Haryana Women Development Corporation as a grant, subject to a maximum limit of ₹50,000 or a period of three years, whichever is earlier, thereby reducing the financial burden on beneficiaries.

 

Loans under the scheme can be availed for various self-employment activities including dairying; auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw operations; salons, beauty parlours, tailoring units, boutiques; papad and pickle making; sweet shops; food stalls; ice-cream manufacturing units; biscuit making; tiffin services; stitching of school uniforms, and other similar ventures.
