The Bharatiya Janata Party has once again given a clarion call to all Indians to unfurl the National Tricolour on their rooftops on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025. India attained freedom in 1947 through the sacrifices of countless revolutionaries who shared one dream — to liberate the nation from the clutches of the British Empire.
As part of the celebrations, the Bharatiya Janata Party will be organising “Tiranga Yatras” to inspire people to hoist the National Flag atop their homes, spreading the message of nationalism and patriotism. The Indian Tricolour has three distinct colours: the saffron band on top symbolises the strength and courage of the nation; the white band in the middle stands for peace and truth, featuring the Dharma Chakra; and the green band at the bottom signifies fertility, growth, and auspiciousness.
The Dharma Chakra, depicted as the Wheel of Law, is taken from the Sarnath Lion Capital built by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BC. It represents the idea that there is life in movement and death in stagnation.
The Government of India launched the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in 2022 under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The campaign’s main objective is to encourage every citizen to hoist the National Flag at home, thereby building a personal and emotional connection with the Tiranga.
This initiative serves as an inspiration, especially for the youth, to strengthen their patriotic spirit towards the Motherland and the National Flag. It is the duty of every Indian to contribute to the success of this campaign, for it embodies the very essence of national pride and patriotism.
