Rohtak, June 8, 2026: Speaking at the 'Guru Dakshata' Faculty Development Program—organized by the Faculty Development Center of MDU’s UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC)—Dr. Deepti Hooda, Professor in the Department of Psychology, identified student’s well-being and positive development as the core pillars of education.

She emphasized that happy students form the strong foundation of a better society. She urged teachers to create a positive and sensitive academic environment that fosters students' mental health, self-confidence, and holistic development.

Delivering a lecture on "Empowering Teachers to Cultivate Happiness for Positive Youth Development," Prof. Deepti Hooda stated that education should not be limited merely to knowledge and skills; equal importance must be given to the emotional, social, and psychological development of students. She noted that while economic achievements are one aspect of life, lasting happiness stems from positive relationships, gratitude, compassion, and a positive outlook. She encouraged teachers to adopt an education model centered on student well-being.

In the morning session, educationist and educational technology expert Prof. R.C. Sharma highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education while speaking on "AI Tools for Learner Engagement." He stated that AI-based technologies are making the teaching-learning process more effective, personalized, and participatory. Through practical demonstrations of digital tools such as Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Wolfram Alpha, Napkin AI, Grammarly, and Connected Papers, he explained how these tools are proving beneficial for teachers and researchers in areas like research writing, literature reviews, presentation creation, and the development of teaching materials.

Deputy Director Dr. Madhuri Hooda remarked that, in alignment with NEP-2020, a balance between technical proficiency and human sensitivity is essential for teachers. He stated that education focused on student well-being and mental health, combined with AI-based innovations, is what will make the education of the future more effective and meaningful.
