Hands on Skill Training program in Needle-Craft Techniques kick-started in Home Science College

Chandigarh, November 19, 2022: A ten days hands on skill training program in Needle Craft Techniques in collaboration with Singer India Limited kickstarted in Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, on November 17. The placement cell of the college is organising this training program to equip the students with skills of stitching, designing, cutting and making of designer apparels. Singer India Limited sponsored  seven sewing machines and human resources exclusively to provide this training. More than 50 students of B.Sc (Fashion Designing), M.Sc (Clothing and Textiles) and PG Diploma in Fashion Designing attended the training program. 

On the first day of the program, Amandeep Singh, area incharge Singer India, along with three  expert trainers, trained the students in various seaming techniques including how to deal with different parts of the sewing machine, assembling and minor repairs. Students also learned 32 types of different stitches using different attachments on these machines. The students showed keen interest in learning different techniques of needle craft and participated with great enthusiasm.

Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal expressed her gratitude to Singer India limited for collaborating with the college for organising this hands-on training programme. She motivated the students to participate in such skill training programs as they help the students to acquire advanced skill sets and earn their livelihood.
