‘Sarang’ and ‘Bharangam’ will offer umpteen doses of entertainment; Preparations in full swing under the supervision of VC Dr. Amit Arya
Rohtak, February 7, 2026: Preparations are in full swing at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA) for the 25th edition of the India Rang Mahotsav (Bharangam) and the university's own festival 'Sarang; under the supervision of VC Dr. Amit Arya.' The team from the National School of Drama (NSD) has also reached Rohtak to prepare for the staging of plays. This festival, which will be held from February 9 to 12, will keep attendees entertained from morning till late evening. At 'Sarang,' cultural activities will take place continuously from 11 AM to 5 PM on the stage set up in the courtyard of the FTV department. In the evening, from 6 PM Onwards, the stage in the mini auditorium of the same department will be set up for plays. The plays will be performed until 8 PM.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that 'Sarang' will begin with the opening ceremony on February 9. After that, programs will be held continuously. He said that it will be a celebration adorned with cultural colours, which can be called a fair of colours, ideas, voices, and traditions. During the festival, exhibitions, dialogues, screenings, and workshops will be organized. In addition, folk dances from different states of the country such as Kathak, Odissi, Chhau, Sattriya, Bhangra, etc., will be performed. Musical performances will also be featured. All four days, from 11 AM to 5 PM, the colours of the 'Sarang' festival can be experienced in the FTV Department's courtyard.
According to VC Dr. Arya, for the first time outside NSD, plays are being organized in Haryana under 'Bharangam'. Therefore, all rules that apply during play performances at NSD will be followed at the university. Entry into the auditorium will begin at 5:45 PM. To ensure there is no disturbance during the play, the auditorium gates will be closed at 6 PM. Entry for the play will be completely free. Any kind of videography or photography during the play will be prohibited.
Dr. Amit Arya said that the NSD team has reached the university to finalize the preparations. Along with the stage, the lighting and sound systems are being arranged. Additionally, sets and other arrangements for the plays are being prepared.
VC Dr. Arya informed that this four-day festival will witness the participation of celebrities who have gained recognition in the country and abroad. Over 100 renowned individuals from the fields of art, culture, cinema, TV, judiciary, bureaucracy, politics, and sports, along with intellectuals, educators, and other eminent members of society will participate in this festival. Famous actor Yashpal Sharma, Actress Meghna Malik, Singer and MP Manoj Tiwari, Singer Malini Awasthi, Wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Sangram Singh, Haryana Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala and Rekha Sharma, along with many other renowned personalities, will be part of this event.
During the 'Sarang' festival, theatre artists from the state who have been involved in theatrical activities across different districts for years and are still keeping theatre alive with their tireless efforts will also be honoured. This is the first time in the state that so many theatre artists will be honoured during a single event.
To involve as many students as possible in ‘Sarang’, a reel-making competition will be held. Students will have to create a reel of 30 to 45 second. In the competition, the students winning first, second, and third place will be honoured with cash prizes of Rs. 11000, Rs. 5100 and Rs. 2100 respectively.
