Guest lecture on major economic issues facing Indian economy

Jalandhar, March 22, 2023: P.G. Department of Economics and Planning Forum, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar organised a guest lecture on Major Economics Issues facing Indian Economy. 

Dr. Satinder Kaur, a renouned economist was the Chief Guest and speaker of the event. She apprised the students about the economic problems facing Indian Economy and also put forward certain remedies for it. According to her, International Report is saying that India will be second largest country in the world after 2050 but as per socio-economic parameters, India is still a low developing country. Many parameters meant to indicate the economic health of the economy like HDI, PQLI, World Hunger Index and Cost of living index. She also talked about high fiscal deficit and low tax GDP ratio. She shared her views with more than 100 participants and also provided solutions to their queries. The students of M.A. Economics made the event more special and mesmerized the audience by presenting a skit on economic issues. 

Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Principal Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar lauded the efforts of Economics department for consistently working for awareness and overall development of students. Participant and student organisers of the event were awarded certificates by worthy chief guest Dr. Satinder Kaur. Prof. Navdeep Kaur, Head, Economics Department gave vote of thanks. Dr. S.S. Bains, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Ritika and teachers from various departments were also present on the occasion.
