Gurugram, August 14, 2026: Gurugram University marked the eve of Independence Day with two programmes centred on patriotism, nation-building and environmental consciousness.
Under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the Department of Student Welfare organised a Tricolour Yatra, which was flagged off by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Kaushik. The march began from the university campus and passed through Samsapur, Tigra village and Artemis Hospital before returning to the campus. A large number of students, faculty members, employees and NCC-NSS volunteers participated, carrying the national flag and raising patriotic spirit. A patriotic song competition was also organised.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environmental Sciences and Biosciences organised a national seminar on Vishal Bharat Diwas, which began with a tree plantation drive. As Chief Guest, RSS senior functionary Indresh Kumar spoke on India’s knowledge tradition and its role in global leadership, asserting that the country’s ancient heritage would lay the foundation for its future global leadership.
RSS Haryana Prant Sanghchalak Pratap emphasised the need to sensitise youth towards environmental protection and climate change. VC Prof. Sanjay Kaushik called upon the university community to remain committed to nation-building while contributing consistently to environmental conservation.
Organising Secretary of National Security Awareness Forum Vikramaditya Singh and Lt Gen Arvinder Singh Lamba also shared their views. Registrar Dr. Sanjay Arora, DSW Prof. Rakesh Kumar Yogi, Col. Dr. Sameer Kaushik and other senior university officials were present on the occasion.
