Government College of Education, Chandigarh Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Fervor and Vision for Viksit Bharat

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervor by hoisting the tricolor at Government College of Education, Sector 20D here today. As per the tradition of the college, the oldest serving employee in the order, Dr. Suman Khokar, Assistant Professor of the college hoisted the national flag.

Chandigarh, August 15, 2025: The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervor by hoisting the tricolor at Government College of Education, Sector 20D here today. As per the tradition of the college, the oldest serving employee in the order, Dr. Suman Khokar, Assistant Professor of the college hoisted the national flag.

Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda in her speech congratulated the Chief Guest and  all others  present on the occasion and threw light on the significance of this day. Dr. Nanda highlighted the transformation of India from Sankalp Yug, an Era of Resolution to the period of ‘Sidhhi Yug’, an Era of Accomplishment. She also aspired to build an India that is inclusive, progressive, prosperous and peaceful- a society where justice, liberty, equality and fraternity flourish. She also praised the sacrifices of the Armed Forces for protecting the integrity of the nation. All of the academicians need to make tireless efforts in this direction so that India can be a leading nation of the world and we can fulfill the dream of Viksit Bharat.

She also emphasized that our vision is based on the principle of ‘Amrit Kaal’ – a vision that looks ahead of the centenary of our independence in 2047. This period must become a golden era for India. She also urged every citizen, especially youth to participate so that India becomes Vishvaguru.  

Patriotic songs were sung by the students. Sweets were distributed among all present on the occasion. The function was largely attended by around 100 participants comprising students, faculty, office and administrative staff of the college.
