Ludhiana, February 26, 2026: In a major boost to public health and financial security for all residents, Punjab government   has accelerated enrollment under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) — a groundbreaking universal health assurance scheme that provides cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per family per year to every Punjabi.
Launched on January 22,  MMSY marks a historic first in India, offering comprehensive coverage with no income limits, ensuring that no Punjabi family faces catastrophic out-of-pocket expenses during medical emergencies.
Key Highlights of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY):
Coverage Amount: Up to Rs 10 lakh per family per year** for cashless treatment.
Cashless & Paperless Process: Beneficiaries receive treatment without any upfront payments at empanelled government hospitals, private hospitals, and specialized centres (over 800+ facilities, including in Punjab and select out-of-state options).
Extensive Coverage: More than 2,500 medical procedures and packages, including major and minor surgeries, critical illnesses (cardiology, oncology/cancer treatment, neurology, nephrology/dialysis, orthopaedics, etc.), hospitalization, ICU care, diagnostics, medicines, daycare procedures, 3 days pre-hospitalization and 15 days post-hospitalization expenses (including follow-up medicines).
Universal Eligibility: Open to all bona fide residents of Punjab — verified via Aadhaar card and Punjab Voter ID (or guardian's documents for minors). This includes government employees, pensioners, contractual/outsourced staff, farmers, laborers, and all socio-economic groups.
Sehat Card: Linked to Aadhaar for seamless access to benefits.
To ensure maximum reach and ease of access, the state government has recently simplified the enrolment process. Residents can now register on-the-spot at any Common Service Centre (CSC) or designated camp using just Aadhaar and Voter ID — no appointment slips or intermediaries required. Bureaucratic hurdles have been removed, and performance incentives are in place for CSC operators to drive saturation.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain directed all relevant departments to prioritize awareness and registration drives. District Health authorities, along with CSC Village Level Entrepreneurs, are actively facilitating registrations to achieve 100% coverage.
