New Delhi, October 15, 2025: The Scindia School, one of India’s most prestigious boarding institutions, commemorated 128 glorious years of educational excellence with its annual Founder’s Day celebrations on 13th October. The occasion was marked by the esteemed presence of General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, who graced the event as the Chief Guest, adding immense pride to the historic milestone. Held within the walls of the majestic Gwalior Fort which houses the school campus, the two-day celebration brought together students, faculty, parents, alumni, and dignitaries to honour the school’s enduring legacy and reaffirm its commitment to holistic education and nation-building.

Founded in 1897 by HH Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia I, The Scindia School has consistently nurtured independent thinkers, compassionate leaders, and responsible citizens. The Founder’s Day not only celebrates this journey but also looks forward to a future shaped by the same values that have defined the school for over a century.

The festivities began with a ceremonial welcome for CDS, General Anil Chauhan, led by the School Brass Band. The event featured vibrant exhibitions by various departments, a symphonic orchestra performance, and the grand Prize Distribution Ceremony, which recognised student achievements across academics, sports, innovation, leadership, and community service. Madhav award instituted to recognise an eminent Old Boy every year was presented to Mr. Vikram Misri (ex-Shivaji, 1981), Foreign Secretary. Awards were also presented to long-serving staff members in appreciation of their dedicated service to the school. The celebrations culminated with the presentation of thematic choreography.

Speaking on the occasion, General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, shared an inspiring message with the young Scindians: “I am truly honoured to be a part of this significant day in the history of The Scindia School. Every uniform, whether military or academic, represents a commitment to serve. I urge each of you to lead a life of purpose and service to the nation. Together, we can build a stronger, safer India.”

Ajay Singh, Principal of The Scindia School, expressed his gratitude and pride: “It is a privilege to welcome General Chauhan, our distinguished Board members, parents, and alumni to this milestone celebration. Our students continue to bring laurels to the school, not just in academics and sports, but through their resilience, integrity, and service. We are proud of the values we instil and the leaders we nurture.”

The celebration also saw participation from members of The Scindia Old Boys’ Association (SOBA), who returned to their alma mater in large numbers to reconnect and reflect on their journeys beyond the Fort walls.

Addressing the gathering, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Communications and President of the Board of Governors of The Scindia School, said: “Founder’s Day is more than a commemoration. It is a reaffirmation of our identity. I am honoured to welcome General Anil Chauhan. This school has always stood for courage, not as the absence of fear, but the will to stand up for what is right.” He added, “As Scindians, we must ask ourselves: What is our duty? It is to choose purpose over complacency, unity over division, and character over convenience. Greatness is not inherited but instead chosen, every day, through our actions, our decisions, and our values.”
