Function in commemoration of the Martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

Chandigarh, November 27, 2019: The Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies Panjab University Chandigarh organized a function in commemoration of the Martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Guru Tegh Bahadur Bhawan of Panjab University Chandigarh. The programme was started with the recitation of Path of Japuji Sahib and Shabads of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji by students and research scholars of the Department. Kirtan was performed by the well known ragi jatha of Bhai Lakhwidner Singh Ji (Chandigarh). At this occasion large number of faculty and non-teaching officials were present. Professor Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Academic Incharge of the Department explained about the great sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji which was made fearlessly to save the freedom of religion and human rights of the Indian people and also for getting the social justice for which they were being deprived. Prof. Shankarji Jha Dean University Instructions graced the occasion. He honoured Bhai Lakhwinder Singh ji and presented him a shawl and a memento of appreciation for doing valuable service of delivering Gurbani message through Kirtan to the society. A huge langar was served after the programme which was prepared and distributed by the students and research scholars of the Department.
