Rohtak/Chandigarh, August 20, 2026: A Congress Legislature Party meeting chaired by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday targeted the BJP government over inflation, recruitment, the Kaushal Nigam, SIR, law and order, sanitation workers’ demands, farmers’ issues and alleged scams.
The legislators decided to raise these issues both on the streets and in the Assembly.
On inflation, Hooda said rising petrol and sugar prices were adding to the burden on households. He claimed sugar prices had touched nearly Rs 70 a kg, almost doubling in recent months.
On SIR, Hooda alleged a “nexus” between the BJP and the Election Commission, saying the Congress was monitoring the electoral process and had submitted complaints to the poll panel.
Hitting out at the government over law and order, Hooda cited firing in broad daylight in Dadri and a robbery outside a police station in Kurukshetra. He alleged that incidents of loot, robbery, extortion, murder and firing were occurring frequently and criminals had lost fear of the law.
On guest teachers, Hooda said a court had ruled in their favour in line with the policy of the previous Congress government, but alleged that the BJP government was avoiding implementation. He demanded regularisation of guest teachers and Kaushal workers.
The CLP also backed Congress MPs’ demand for Haryana to be made a co-host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games along with Gujarat. Hooda said Haryana’s contribution to international sport and its pool of athletes justified a major role for the state in hosting the Games.
