Former CM Hooda demands Rs. 200-400 bonus on paddy, cotton, and millet

Rohtak, October 3, 2025: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has stated that Haryana ranks number one in the country in organized crime, with more than 80 gangs operating in the state for crimes like murder, extortion, robbery, and kidnapping according to NCRB data.
He said the latest data for 2023 has once again exposed the law and order situation in Haryana. NCRB data shows that Haryana ranks third in the country in crime, with 739.3 cases registered per 100,000 population in 2023, representing a total of 2.24 lakh crimes. The conviction rate was only 30%, reflecting the government's failure to prevent crime and provide justice to victims.
Haryana ranks fourth in the country in crimes against women, with 15,758 cases registered and a crime rate of 110.3. The conviction rate in cases involving women is only 13%. In 2023, 1,772 rape and 131 gang rape cases were reported, representing an average of 5 rapes per day, while 4,149 kidnapping cases were reported, representing 12 cases per day.
Talking to media persons at his D-park residence, Hooda said the BJP had promised to provide Rs 2,100 per month to every woman under the “Lado Laxmi Yojana” during the elections, but later announced that it would limit the scheme to only 20 lakh women. But only 171,000 women have been registered so far, even though the government already has Aadhaar and Family ID data. This means the BJP is once again deceiving the public by conducting a separate registration process.
Hooda said that farmers are being exploited in the name of crop procurement in the mandis. “There is chaos in the mandis, gate passes are not being issued due to a lack of verification on the portal. So far, 700,000 tons of paddies have arrived in the mandis, but only 149,000 tons have been lifted. Furthermore, the threat of deteriorating weather is looming,” he said.
He said Government agencies are already refusing to purchase paddy citing moisture or are reducing prices by up to Rs 200. Farmers are receiving a reduced rate of Rs 300-400 per quintal for paddy. The BJP had promised a price of Rs 3100 per quintal for paddy during the elections, which was neither fulfilled last season nor this season.
“The MSP increase announced by the government this time is negligible, like a drop in the ocean. This is a cruel joke on farmers in this era of inflation,” he added. On behalf of the Congress, Hooda demanded a bonus of ₹200-500 per quintal for paddy, cotton, and millet.
Earlier, Hooda met the people of his constituency at the Sampla Rest House. Several panchayats and dignitaries congratulated Hooda on becoming the Leader of the Opposition. He assured that he would fulfill this responsibility with full energy and positivity. He also assured that the voice of the people would be strongly raised from the streets to the Assembly.
