Rohtak, November 1, 2025: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda congratulated all the people of the state on the occasion of Haryana Day. He said although Haryana became a separate state on November 1, 1966, our culture and civilization are centuries old.

“The battle of Mahabharata was fought in Kurukshetra, Haryana, which gave the message of victory of justice over injustice to the entire world. Rakhigarhi dates back to the Harappan civilization and testifies to our ancient existence. The subsequent battles fought in Panipat determined the future of the entire India,” he stated.

Hooda said that during British rule, Haryana was merged with Punjab, but for a long time, Haryana remained a very backward region in terms of development. Therefore, demands arose for separation of Haryana from Punjab.

“At that time, Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Hooda and other leaders played a historic role in creating a separate state, and Haryana came into existence as a state. At that time, many people doubted whether Haryana would be able to progress on its own. However, the hardworking people of Haryana and various governments overcame these doubts and questions, setting a unique example of progress for the nation,” he said.

“Several Chief Ministers, including Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, Rao Birendra Singh, Chaudhary Bansi Lal, Chaudhary Devi Lal, Chaudhary Bhajan Lal, and Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, contributed to taking Haryana forward during their tenures,” he added.

Hooda said; by 2014, Haryana had become the number one state in the country in all development metrics, including per capita income, per capita investment, sports, respect for the elderly, farmers' income, law and order, and prosperity, during the Congress government. But after the BJP government came to power in 2014, Haryana derailed its development path and continued to decline.

Responding to questions from media persons, he said that unless the law and order situation in a state improves, it cannot progress. “We have a living example of this today. Nearly 60 organized criminal gangs are active in Haryana. Law and order has completely collapsed. Fear of them has prevented anyone from investing in Haryana, which is a major cause of unemployment,” he pointed out.
