Rohtak, February 1, 2026: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, along with several senior leaders and dignitaries, paid homage to freedom fighter Chaudhary Ranbir Singh at a tribute ceremony held on his death anniversary. All those present also took an oath to protect the Constitution.

Recalling his life, former CM Hooda said that his father dedicated his entire life to the service of the country and society. He first fought for the country's independence and served time in jail. After independence, he fought to secure rights for farmers, Dalits, and the underprivileged. Chaudhary Ranbir Singh was the first to propose the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers in the Constituent Assembly on November 23, 1948. It was only after his demand that MSP was implemented in the country. Not only that, he also raised the demand for Hindi to be given the status of the national language in the Constituent Assembly. He also put forward important proposals on issues such as taking steps for cow protection and providing reservations for backward classes.

Hooda said that Ch. Ranbir Singh took several important decisions while serving as a minister in the governments of Haryana and Punjab. As part of the Bhakra Nangal Dam project, he played a crucial role in the construction of India's first awe-inspiring dam. It was inaugurated on July 7, 1954, by the country's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This dam provided irrigation, power generation, and flood control benefits to various states.

Hooda said that Ch. Ranbir Singh spent many years in 8 different jails. Four of these are now in India and four in Pakistan. Chaudhary Ranbir Singh is the only person in the world to have been a member of 7 different legislative bodies. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly, the Constituent Legislative Assembly, the Provisional Parliament, the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha, the Punjab Legislative Assembly, and the Haryana Legislative Assembly. This remarkable record is proudly recorded in the Limca Book of World Records.

Lok Sabha MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, also paid tribute to freedom fighter Ch. Ranbir Singh Hooda on his death anniversary at his memorial in Kheri Sadh village. He said that his grandfather, Ch. Ranbir Singh, who was imprisoned in eight different jails of the British Empire for eight years during the freedom struggle, taught him the importance of remaining steadfast on the path of truth and never bowing down to any injustice.
