Rohtak, January 2, 2026: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has accused the BJP government of making a mockery of and deceiving women in the name of the Lado Lakshmi scheme. He said during the elections, the BJP has promised to give Rs. 2100 per month to all women, but now only a select few are receiving this amount.
Talking to media persons at his residence in Rohtak, Hooda said that in 2024-25, 2.13 crore people in Haryana were in the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category, meaning that approximately 85 lakh women should have benefited from this scheme. However, the government is currently only talking about giving the amount to 8 lakh women. Even then, it is now being said that women will only receive Rs. 1100, and Rs. 1000 will be deposited. “Besides this, conditions such as income limits, children's education, and malnutrition have been imposed. The government is deliberately imposing such conditions so that most women are automatically excluded from the beneficiary list,” he added.
Earlier, CPLO employees working in the Panchayat Department submitted a memorandum to the former CM. The employees said that their recruitment for the CPLO post was done in December 2023 as per advertisement number 01/19-21 HPPA-07. A form fee of Rs. 1000 was charged, and both preliminary and main examinations were conducted. However, at the time of the results, the recruitment process was changed, and the CPLO post was divided into two parts - ASK Operator and LCLO. The salary for the ASK Operator was fixed at Rs. 6000 per month, while the LCLO position was only commission-based. The employees were given joining letters for the wrong posts, which is against the rules and unconstitutional. Hooda said the government should pay attention to the demands and problems of these employees and find a solution quickly.
Former CM Hooda further added that the BJP has ruined Haryana's economy. “Following a policy of reckless spending, the government has continuously increased the state’s debt burden. From 1966 to 2014, the state's debt was approximately Rs 60,000 crore, which has now ballooned to over Rs 5 lakh crore rupees. This reflects the dire state of the state's economy,” he said.
