Flag Hoisting and Cultural Events Mark Independence Day at Barewal Awana School

Ludhiana, August 15, 2025: Government High School, Barewal Awana, Ludhiana, celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervor. The occasion was graced by the chief guest, Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice-Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, along with Jatinder Singh Khangura, Chairman, District Planning Board, Ludhiana, and Nikki Kohli.
The celebration witnessed the presence of members of the Village SMC, eminent citizens, and the school’s students. Principal Ravinder Singh Gill extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. The national flag was jointly hoisted by the chief guest and the school staff, marking the spirit of Independence Day.
Students presented a vibrant cultural programme showcasing patriotic spirit. In her address, the chief guest, Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, underlined the importance of mental health and urged students to seek freedom from excessive screen time. She encouraged them to balance technology with outdoor activities, studies, and hobbies. She further reminded the gathering that the freedom being celebrated today was earned through the sacrifices and bravery of countless heroes, particularly Punjabis who played a pivotal role in the struggle.
On this occasion, students excelling in academics and sports were felicitated, while retired army personnel were honoured for their selfless service to the nation. The event concluded with Principal Ravinder Singh Gill thanking the guests for their presence and extending heartfelt Independence Day greetings.
