Chandigarh, April 28, 2023: The Five-Day Value Added Course on the theme “Research and Publication Ethics” organized by the Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh sponsored by RUSA 2.0 concluded today. The course was attended by 25 participants from across the disciplines like Public Administration, Political Science and Department-cum-Centre for Women’s Studies & Development. Dr. Bhawna Gupta and Dr. Bharati Garg, Assistant Professors of the Department were Coordinators of the course. The programme was inaugurated by Professor Devinder Singh, Chairperson, Department of Laws who encourage the participants to make full use of the resources being channelized for their professional development.
 

The course comprised of 24 sessions focused on diverse themes relating to research and publication ethics - Journal Matrices, Journal Finder, Violation of Publication Ethics, Publication Misconduct, Issues of copyright, academic writing, writing and publishing scholarly articles, book reviews, position papers, policy briefs, use of referencing tools like Mendeley, Plagiarism and open access publication and scientific misconduct etc.
 

Resource Persons from diverse disciplines interacted withthe participants during the course - Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh and Dr. Jivesh Bansal, Deputy Librarians, AC Joshi Library, PU, Chandigarh; Prof. RupakChakravarty, Department of Library and Information Science; Dr. Meenu Gupta and Professor Akshaya Kumar from the Department of English and Cultural Studies; Prof. Pampa Mukharjee, Prof. Ashutosh Kumar and Prof. Deepak Kumar Singh from the Department of Political Science; Dr. Shilpa Suri, Dr. Pankaj Shrivastava, Dr. Ajay Mittal and Dr. Kulwant Singh Kookna.
 

Prof. Bhupinder Singh Brar from the Department of Political Science in his Valedictory Address motivated the participants to inculcate the values such as discipline, hard work and dedicated effort to succeed in life. He also shared various anecdotes from his research journey to motivate the participants and linked research with employability. He said that ethics is a necessity and cannot be ignored.
 

Dr. Bharati Garg, Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration proposed a formal vote of thanks. The Value Added Course was well received by the participants and concluded successfully.
