Chandigarh, August 23, 2015: To pay tribute to former President Late Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh organized a program on “Kalam Aaj Aur Kal” today at PHD Chamber, Sector-31, Chandigarh. Sh.Srijan Pal Singh, Co-Author and Former OSD to Dr. Abdul Kalam was the Key Note Speaker on the occasion. Sh.Rakesh Verma, IAS, Secretary Technical Education was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Dr.Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges presided over the event. Mr. J.N Vohra was the moderator of the event.
Sh. Srijan Pal Singh while interacting with the audience said that Dr. Kalam was deeply concerned with the incidence happened in Punjab on his final day. His dream was to make the Nation terrorism free which is the pollution of mind and not allowing people to live with peace. Even in the final two hours of his life, he discussed on terrorism as a threat to sustainability with special reference to terror attack in Dina Nagar, Gurdaspur.
He further said that Dr. Kalam was a teacher, mentor, guide, co-author, friend, boss from whom he had received care like a mother and concern like a father. He always introduced everybody as friend — whether it be his secretaries, his driver, his gardener, his cook or the people who maintained his house.
“Funny guy! Are you smashing?” This is what I would hear from Dr. Kalam at every single dinner or lunch we had together. “Smashing” was the typical “Kalam call-sign” for asking whether the food was good. When I was his student in 2008 at IIMA, he told me in, “If you are blessed with intelligence, and empowered with education – it is your responsibility to change the world”.
Sh.Rakesh Verma, IAS, Secretary Technical Education while speaking on the occasion said that Dr. Kalam’s had a voracious appetite for knowledge. One thing that has been closest to his heart was children. He took up a mission to ignite the young minds for national development by meeting high school students from across the country.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges while speaking on the occasion said that Dr. Kalam has always been a guide and motivator to the youth of India. The best homage to him would be to follow the principles that he adhered all throughout his life. He added that Dr. Kalam was a person of extraordinary vision, honesty and remarkable intellect.
At last a question answer round was held wherein Sh. Srijan Pal interacted with the students of Aryans Group.
