FICO strongly oppose government’s decision of not allowing industry in area less than 350 square yards
Ludhiana, December 17, 2018: Punjab Government has set the minimum land requirement of 350 square yards to operate an industrial unit, which is totally unjustified to the industry, said Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization(FICO). It strongly opposed the decision of the government and requested Capt Amarinder Singh CM Punjab and Sunder Sham Arora Industry Minister Punjab to review and rollback the decision. It was felt that the decision would render many units closed and lot of people would get unemployed. It asked, what would happen to exiting such industries. K. K. Seth (Chairman) and Gurmeet Singh Kular (President) said that this decision would break the backbone of the industry in Punjab, especially of the MSME Units operative in Mixed Land Used Areas. The industry operation on single machines like lathe, milling, shaping, and other special purpose machines would be finished, most of the industrial units working for the repair, maintenance and other job works would be finished. There were certain automatic machines such as CNCs that could be operated from a single room itself. So this was a very harsh and wrong decision for the industry of Punjab. The government should rollback it with immediate effect, they urged.
