Expand Blood Donation Drives, Train Youth in Home Nursing and Build 5,000 Volunteers: DC Sachin Gupta

Rohtak, January 27, 2026: Deputy Commissioner and President of the District Red Cross Society, Rohtak, Sachin Gupta directed that all humanitarian activities of the Society be significantly scaled up across the district. Chairing a review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, he instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive school-level First Aid training plan and to develop a strong network of counselors and volunteers in every educational institution.
The Deputy Commissioner said that at least 500 counselors and 5,000 volunteers should be trained in the district and that students from both government and private schools must be covered under First Aid and CPR programmes. He further directed that blood donation camps be expanded in coordination with NGOs, PGIMS and the Civil Surgeon so that medical teams are available in a timely manner. It was informed in the meeting that till December 31, 280 blood donation camps had been organised with voluntary organisations, collecting about 16,150 units of blood.
Emphasising employment-oriented initiatives, DC Sachin Gupta instructed that college youth be provided Home Nursing training to enhance livelihood opportunities. He also directed that Red Cross canteen facilities be started, notices be issued to shop lessees violating lease conditions and additional revenue resources be explored to strengthen the Society financially. Arrangements were also ordered for regular blood pressure and sugar check-ups for senior citizens in parks and gymnasiums.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed that block-level camps be held regularly and that each school should have trained counsellors and volunteers. He said that five-day Junior Red Cross camps are being conducted at the local Red Cross Bhawan covering disaster management, First Aid, traffic rules and CPR, and that such programmes should continue on a sustained basis. First Aid training has also been made mandatory for conductor licence applicants. Civil Defence training will also be initiated to prepare dedicated teams for disaster response.
He informed that during January so far, 1,004 persons have been imparted one-day Basic First Aid training through online and offline modes with hands-on CPR practice. In addition, 133 employees from six industrial units have also been trained.
The District Red Cross Society will organise an assessment camp for persons with disabilities on January 28 at the BDPO office, Lakhan Majra, for providing assistive devices. Based on the assessment, battery-operated tricycles, hearing aids, commode chairs, knee braces, waist belts and other aids will be distributed free of cost through ALIMCO within one month.
Earlier in the day, an assessment camp for persons with disabilities was organised at the local Red Cross Bhawan. Secretary Vikas, District Training In-charge Ravi Dutt and other officials and staff were present.
