Jalandhar, August 1, 2026: An Essay Writing competition was organised by Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar on the topic 'Shiv Kumar Batalvi's Contribution to Punjabi Literature'.
Around forty students from different classes participated in it. The aim of this competition was to give the students an opportunity to showcase their creative potential and to acquaint them with the life, works and poetic prowess of Shiv Kumar Batalvi. The overarching intent was to bring home the relevance of Batalvi’s notions in the contemporary times.
Narayani of B.A. Semester III secured first position. Harpreet Kaur of B.A. Semester III made it to second position and Amandeep Kaur of B.Sc. F.D. Semester I managed it to third position.
Apart from this, Consolation Prizes were received by Manveet Kaur and Neha of B.Sc. FD Semester I.
