ESIC launches SPREE Scheme, providing major benefits to employers and employees

Ludhiana, August 21, 2025: The Sub-Regional Office of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Ludhiana, in collaboration with Junior Commerce International (JCI) Ludhiana—a global, non-profit organization for young leaders and entrepreneurs aged 18 to 40—organized a special awareness session on 21.08.2025.

The event was graced by Ajeet Kumar Singh, Assistant Director, ESIC Ludhiana, and Suresh Kumar, Social Security Officer, as special guests. During the session, Ajeet Kumar Singh informed the participants about the recently launched “Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees (SPREE) 2025.”

The scheme, which commenced on July 1, 2025, will remain in force until December 31, 2025. Under this initiative, if employers register their establishments and employees online through the ESIC portal, Shram Suvidha portal, or MCA portal, the registration will be deemed valid from the date declared by the employer.

A key feature of this scheme is that no inspection will be carried out and no past records will be demanded for the period prior to registration. By removing the fear of retrospective penalties and simplifying the registration process, the scheme aims to encourage voluntary compliance.

The primary objective of the SPREE 2025 initiative is to bring unregistered establishments and workers under the umbrella of ESIC’s social security benefits, thereby extending healthcare and insurance coverage to a wider workforce.
