Ludhiana, February 5, 2025: The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, sponsored project NIDHI-TBI organized a “Bakery and Confectionery Training for Agripreneurs” at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The NIDHI-TBI, operating under the aegis of PAU, provided hands-on training and essential skills in baking and confectionery, enabling the aspiring entrepreneurs to develop value-added products from agricultural produce. By fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, the program aligned with PAU’s commitment to strengthening agribusinesses and promoting self-reliance among farmers and food entrepreneurs.

In her inaugural lecture, Dr Poonam A Sachdev, Co-Principal Investigator of NIDHI-TBI and Principal Food Technologist, FST, emphasized the importance of innovation and value addition in the food sector.

Dr Savita Sharma, Head, Department of Food Science and Technology (FST), along with Team NIDHI-TBI, provided valuable insights and encouragement, highlighting the potential of agripreneurship in the bakery and confectionery industry.

Dr Ramandeep Singh, Principal Investigator, NIDHI-TBI, and Director, School of Business Studies (SBS), applauded the session and reaffirmed the commitment to keep organizing such valuable training sessions for agripreneurs in the future. This initiative underscored NIDHI-TBI’s mission to support startups and agripreneurs in leveraging scientific knowledge for sustainable business growth, he observed. Participants gained insights into ingredient selection, modern baking techniques, food safety, and market strategies to scale their ventures successfully, he said.
