Ludhiana, June 25, 2026: To ensure that welfare benefits reach the grassroots level, the Chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Backward Classes, Malkit Thind, chaired a detailed review meeting with top officials of various government departments on Thursday at Bachat Bhawan, here.
The primary objective of the meeting was to review the ground-level implementation of various central and state government welfare schemes aimed at the social and economic uplifting of the Backward Classes (BC) community.
Chairman Malkit Thind stated clearly that the real purpose of welfare schemes is only fulfilled when the benefits reach every eligible person. He instructed the heads of various departments to ensure that members of the BC community receive their rightful benefits on time without facing unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.
During the meeting, the Chairman closely analyzed the performance data and progress reports of different departments.
"Welfare benefits must be delivered transparently and swiftly. Wherever gaps or shortcomings have been noticed, officials must rectify them immediately," Chairman Thind directed.
In a move to make the system more accountable, Chairman Thind directly interacted with members of the BC community and representatives of various social welfare organizations. He listened to their problems, grievances, and suggestions.
While several complaints were resolved on the spot, the Chairman issued strict instructions to the concerned departments to resolve the remaining issues within a fixed time limit. He also urged officials to actively promote these welfare schemes in rural and urban areas so that citizens become fully aware of their rights.
Assuring the Commission of complete cooperation, Ludhiana’s Chief Minister’s Field Officer, Tushita Gulati, stated that the district administration is committed to implementing all welfare schemes effectively and in strict accordance with the Commission’s guidelines.
The meeting was attended by Sahnewal Market Committee Chairman Hemraj Raji, District Revenue Officer Pradeep Kumar, District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Harpal Singh Gill, along with senior civil and police officials, NGO representatives, and a large number of leaders from the BC community.
