Eligible Senior Citizens Invited to register for Free Somnath Pilgrimage Under Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana
Registrations open till June 6 on Saral Portal - Special Train to be Flagged Off by CM Nayab Saini on June 8
Rohtak, June 2, 2026: Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Makarand Pandurang, has called upon Deputy Commissioners across Haryana to ensure maximum registration of eligible beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana for the upcoming pilgrimage to Somnath.
Reviewing preparations through video conferencing, the Director General informed that a special train carrying eligible devotees to Somnath will be flagged off from Kurukshetra by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on June 8, 2026, as part of the celebrations of Somnath Swabhiman Parv.
He said the Haryana Government is committed to providing opportunities for spiritual and religious journeys to senior citizens belonging to economically weaker families through the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana. The special pilgrimage to Somnath forms part of this larger vision of making spiritual tourism accessible to all sections of society.
Makarand Pandurang stated that the initiative assumes special significance as it commemorates 75 years of the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple and 1,000 years of unbroken faith and devotion associated with the sacred shrine. Through this special pilgrimage, eligible senior citizens will have the opportunity to visit one of India’s most revered pilgrimage destinations.
He further informed that all arrangements, including travel, accommodation, meals and local transportation, will be provided completely free of cost by the Haryana Government. Interested beneficiaries may submit their applications through the Saral Haryana Portal up to June 6, 2026.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta appealed to eligible senior citizens of Rohtak district to take advantage of the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana and complete their registration before the deadline.
He informed that selection of beneficiaries will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, making early registration important for interested applicants.
The Deputy Commissioner said that applicants must be 60 years of age or above, permanent residents of Haryana and possess a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹1.80 lakh.
DC Sachin Gupta informed that applicants will be required to submit - Aadhaar Card, PAN Card or any other valid photo identity proof along with Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP), Medical fitness certificate confirming fitness for travel and Self-declaration stating that the applicant has not availed benefits under the scheme during the last three years.
He said the pilgrimage offers senior citizens a unique opportunity to experience spiritual fulfillment while connecting with India’s rich cultural, historical and religious heritage.
Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Namita Singh, City Magistrate Shubham, and DIPRO Sanjeev Kumar Saini were present during the review meeting.
