Eight more persons sent to their respective villages and homes today

Ludhiana: Ludhiana Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu has informed that a total of 130 persons have been sent to the quarantine centres set up in their respective villages and homes from the isolation centre set up at Meritorious School, here. Upon reaching their villages/homes, these people would remain in quarantine in their own villages.
    Till date, out of total 282 persons, 108 persons have been shifted to quarantine centres/homes in their respective villages, while 22 students who had returned from Kota (Rajasthan) have also been sent for home quarantine from Parker House, Punjab Agricultural University, here. He said that at present, only 94 persons are left in the Isolation Centre at Meritorious School, here.
    Mr Sandhu said that the persons who have been shifted to the quarantine centres had tested negative for Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19).
He said that samples of these persons were taken and they came out negative and now they are being shifted to their respective villages to complete their 14-day quarantine so that they remain mentally and emotionally strong as they would be close to their family members now.
    MC Councillor Mrs Mamta Ashu informed that best quality hygienic food is being provided to the persons staying at the isolation centres. She said that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had ordered that people returning from other states would be quarantined for 14 days in government isolation centres. “He had also directed the officials to identify buildings or schools in villages in consultation with the sarpanches. The Chief Minister has also appealed to the panchayats and sarpanches to increase vigil in their respective areas to check the spread of COVID 19,” Mrs Ashu said.
    Both Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu and Mrs Mamta Ashu also interacted with with the persons being shifted to their respective villages and homes. Today, a group of five labourers who had returned from Rajasthan have been shifted to the quarantine centre at Machhiwara, two persons to village Salaudi, while one person to village Harnampura near Doraha.
    Mr Dalwinder Singh, a resident of village Salaudi, informed that he had gone to Nanded (Maharashtra) along with his mother-in-law. He said that he had been staying at this Isolation centre since April 29, 2020 and thanked the Punjab government for providing all basic facilities to them. A group of five labourers hailing from Machhiwara said that they had gone to Rajasthan to work at a potato cold store and thanked the Punjab government for taking care of them and now shifting them to the quarantine centre set up at Machhiwara. One person, who had also returned from Nanded, has been shifted to village Harnampura near Doraha today. All these persons thanked the Punjab government for the arrangements at this isolation centre.
    Dr Jaspreet Kaur, SMO and Medical Incharge of the Isolation Centre set up at Meritorious School, said that till 2 pm today, eight persons have been shifted, while more persons would be shifted to either their homes or quarantine centres set up in their respective villages as per the directions of the Punjab government. She said that till date, a total of 130 persons have been shifted and at present, 94 persons are now left at this particular isolation centre.
