Dr S. P. Singh receives highest honor of Punjabi Sahitya Akademi 

Ludhiana, May 15, 2023: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, Post Graduate Department of Punjabi, Parvasi Sahit Adhyan Kender and Centre for Indian English Immigrant Studies of the college congratulated Dr. S. P. Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, Ludhiana for receiving the highest honor of Punjabi Sahitya Akademi “Fellowship” yesterday.  

Expressing happiness on this occasion, Dr. Arvinder Singh, Principal, said that this honor is given by Punjabi Sahitya Academy to the eminent personalities of the literary field. He further said that Dr. S. P. Singh ji has played a vital role in establishing immigrant literature as an important genre of Punjabi literature and he is still fully active as a writer, critic, editor and educationist. Due to his initiative, Centre for Immigrant Studies was established in Guru Nanak Dev University in 2002 and Five institutions of the Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council are running under his leadership. 

While congratulating Dr. S.P. Singh, Prof. Sharanjit Kaur, Head, Post Graduate Department of Punjabi said that the “Parvasi Sahit Adhyan Kender” of the college is working excellently under the able leadership of Dr. S.P. Singh and it has created its distinct identity. He is also playing significant role as the Chief Editor of “Parvas”Magazine. She appreciated the initiative taken by the Punjabi Sahit Akademi. 

It is worth mentioning that along with Dr. S. P. Singh, this honor was given to famous Story writer Prem Parkash, eminent writer and journalist Gulzar Sandhu, immigrant Punjabi writer Ravinder Ravi and Former President of the academy Prof. Ravinder Singh Bhathal. 

The faculty of the department of Punjabi Dr. Harpreet Singh Dua, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Rajinder Singh Sandhu and the faculty of the Department of English Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur, Dr. Hargunjot Kaur, Dr. Bhupinderjeet Kaur and Dr. Mandeep Kaur also congratulated Dr. S. P. Singh.
