Dr Gajendra Singh honoured with Prestigious Jolly Award for contribution to Blood Donation
Dr Gajendra Singh, Head of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, has been honoured with the prestigious Prof. J.G. Jolly Award for his outstanding contribution to voluntary blood donation.
Rohtak, September 20, 2026: Dr Gajendra Singh, Head of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, has been honoured with the prestigious Prof. J.G. Jolly Award for his outstanding contribution to voluntary blood donation.
The award was presented at Transcon-2026, the 51st national conference of the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology, held in Kochi.
Dr Singh said the PGIMS Blood Bank collects around 38,000 units of blood annually, with over 90% coming from voluntary donors. The department aims to achieve 100% voluntary blood collection in line with the National Blood Policy. He added that approval has been granted for a fully automated nucleic acid testing system to further enhance blood safety.
UHSR Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal, Registrar Dr Roop Singh and Director Dr S.K. Singhal congratulated Dr Singh on the achievement.
