Doaba College condoles death of renowned alumnus Lord Swraj Paul

Jalandhar, August 22, 2025 Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari of Doaba College, Jalandhar and entire Doaba family- Chander Mohan-President, College Managing Committee, Alok Sondhi-General Secretary, Member of Managing Committee, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of college and students offered heartfelt condolences on the untimely sad demise of its renowned alumnus Lord Swraj Paul. Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that Lord Swraj Paul had done B.Sc. from Doaba College in 1948-49. Lord Swraj Paul had carved a niche in steel manufacturing industry in United Kingdom as a reputed Steel Industrialist and he had brought laurels to the country. Lord Paul had also contributed in the field of higher education by becoming Chancellor of Wolverhampton University (UK). He also earned name and fame as Lord of Marylebone in House of Lords (UK) and was known for his social work and contribution to the society at large.
Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that Lord Swraj Paul again visited the campus of his alma mater in 2014 as Chief Guest in 62nd Convocation of the College and blessed the student by presenting them degrees. Lord Swraj Paul was conferred with Doaba Award by the college for his achievement.
Dr. Bhandari apprised that Lord Swraj Paul had contributed with a donation of Rs. 20 Lacs in the memory of his late beloved wife Lady Aruna Paul. The College Authorities constructed Lady Aruna Paul- Student Recreation Centre- DCJ Delight in the sweet memory of Lord Paul’s wife.
Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari on behalf of entire Doaba fraternity offered there sincere condolences on the demise of their brilliant alumnus Lord Swraj Paul.
