Doaba College Celebrates National Science Day 

Doaba College Jalandhar celebrated National Science Day, to mark the anniversary of the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman. This day commemorated the remarkable contribution of scientists, promote the scientific temperament and highlights the importance of science in our lives.

Jalandhar, March 1, 2024: Doaba College Jalandhar celebrated National Science Day, to mark the anniversary of the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman. This day commemorated the remarkable contribution of scientists, promote the scientific temperament and highlights the importance of science in our lives. 

This year, theme for National Science Day is “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”.  Faculty of Sciences organized a seminar to raise the value of scientific theories and applications in our daily life,  for this invited lecture by Sarvesh Chaddha and Bhagwatii Prasad from Sanskrit Bharti , a NGO was conducted.  

The seminar was formally inaugurated with floral welcome of Guest speakers by Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal, Doaba College, Jalandhar and event coordinators Prof. K. K. Yadav and Dr. Arshdeep Singh.  

Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari addressed the students and discussed about the theme “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. He told how Sanskrit and science is interrelated and encouraged the students for asking questions and queries. Mr. Bhagwati Prasad enlightened the value of Sanskrit; he told that the language is like a bridge which transforms education from generation to generation. 

The next speaker Sarvesh Chadha emphasized that the roots of science lied in Sanskrit Language. He put various examples which showed that the theories and experiments of modern science came from ancient Vedas and Shastras. He told about the logic behind zero, how ancient people estimate the time and months from the shadow of sun and changing color of moon etc. 

More than 100 students actively participated in the event. 

Event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rakesh Kumar.
