The department of Gastroenterology at DMC& H started a specialized clinic for patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) today in the OPD Block of DMCH.

Ludhiana, May 7, 2022: The department of Gastroenterology at DMC& H started a specialized clinic for patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) today in the OPD Block of DMCH. Weekly clinic of IBD will be held every Saturday from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm in the OPD complex at the hospital

The IBD clinic was inaugurated by Secretary DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta. Gupta informed that this is first of its kind specialty clinic in north India that will provide advanced IBD care to the patients.

Principal, Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal Dr G S Wander, Medical Supdts. Dr Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary and Dr Sandeep Sharma and  Dr Bishav Mohan, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dr Vandana Midha Professor Department of Medicine and faculty members from Gastroenterology- Dr Varun Mehta Professor, Dr Omesh Goyal Professor, Dr Ramit Mahajan Associate Professor  and Dr Yogesh Gupta Assistant Professor were also present on the occasion.

Dr Ajit Sood, Professor and Head and Dr Arshdeep Singh, Assistant Professor o from Department of Gastroenterology will provide the medical services in the clinic.

IBD is a chronic disease where patients complain of diarrhea, blood in stools, pain abdomen, fever, weight loss and loss of appetite. The disease burden is increasing rapidly in India and patients need specialized care, said Dr Ajit Sood.

Dr Arshdeep Singh briefed that the clinic will also have facilities for comprehensive nutritional assessment, expert dietary advice and psychological assessment and counselling of the patients.
