DMC&H saves 4-year boy with blood cancer through advanced bone marrow transplant
DMC&H Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Arpita Cancer Society, has given a new life to a 4-year-old boy from Jammu. He was suffering from a serious blood cancer called B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). When initial treatment not responded our team carried out a life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) – the only cure possible in his case. The transplant was successfully performed by Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist, and Dr. Suvir Singh, Clinical Hematologist.

Ludhiana, August 18, 2025: DMC&H Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Arpita Cancer Society, has given a new life to a 4-year-old boy from Jammu. He was suffering from a serious blood cancer called B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). When initial treatment not responded our team carried out a life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) – the only cure possible in his case. The transplant was successfully performed by Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist, and Dr. Suvir Singh, Clinical Hematologist.
Since the cost of this treatment was very high, the patient’s family faced great financial difficulties. At this time, Rama Munjal, Founder of Arpita Cancer Society, came forward to help. She not only supported the transplant financially but also promised to take care of the child’s nutritional needs for the next two years – which is very important for recovery.
Others present on the occasion were Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. Puneet A. Pooni, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, DMC&H; Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent; and support staff from Pediatric Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant, who appreciated the efforts of the doctors and the noble support of the Arpita Cancer Society.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, said that DMC&H is equipped with modern facilities for children’s cancer care, including advanced tests, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation and long-term care, and is committed to providing the best cancer treatment to young patients fighting cancer.

The parents of the patient expressed their deep gratitude and said, “We had lost all hope, but support from DMC&H doctors and the Arpita Cancer Society gave our child a new life. We will remain forever thankful for this gift of life.”
