DMC&H Hosts Annual Athletic Meet “SMASH 2025” with Great Zeal and Sportsmanship

Ludhiana, November 1, 2025: The Annual Inter-Batch Sports Meet, SMASH 2025, was held at the Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) campus with enthusiastic participation from all MBBS batches.
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony marked by the release of balloons by the Chief Guest, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society. He was accompanied by Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Principal Dr. G.S. Wander; Dean Academics Dr. Sandeep Kaushal; Chief Cardiologist-cum-Coordinator Dr. Bishav Mohan; and Additional Medical Superintendents Dr. Ashima Taneja. Faculty members and members of the Sports Committee were also present on the occasion.
The sports meet featured a wide range of athletic and team events for both boys and girls, including short-distance races (100 m, 200 m, 400 m relay), shot put, tug of war, football, badminton, basketball, lawn tennis, kho-kho, cricket, volleyball, table tennis, and dodgeball. These activities fostered healthy competition and team spirit among participants.
In his inaugural address, Bipin Gupta emphasized the importance of sports in students’ lives, highlighting how athletics help maintain a balance between physical fitness and mental well-being. He further noted that sports cultivate teamwork, a sense of belonging, and the ability to achieve shared goals.
Principal Dr. G.S. Wander congratulated the Sports Committee and students for successfully organizing the event and declared the meet open.
Dr. Ashwani K. Chaudhary, Chairperson, DMC&H Sports Committee, congratulated all winners and reiterated the value of sports in holistic development. Dr. Vineet Galhotra, Secretary, DMC&H Sports Committee, welcomed the guests and elaborated on the objectives of SMASH 2025, emphasizing teamwork, a healthy competitive spirit, and overall well-being among students and staff—making DMC&H not just an institution of learning but a vibrant and dynamic community.
Prizes were awarded to the winners in recognition of their outstanding performances and sportsmanship.
