DMC&H Hosted PUNJAB CRITICON 2025 – A CME on Advancing Critical Care Practices
The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), in collaboration with the Ludhiana Branch of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), successfully organized a CME program titled PUNJAB CRITICON 2025. This significant academic event was held under the aegis of the Punjab State Chapter of ISCCM, and focused on the theme, “Basic to Precision Critical Care”.

Ludhiana, June 22, 2025: The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), in collaboration with the Ludhiana Branch of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), successfully organized a CME program titled PUNJAB CRITICON 2025. This significant academic event was held under the aegis of the Punjab State Chapter of ISCCM, and focused on the theme, “Basic to Precision Critical Care”.
The CME was organized under the leadership of Dr. P.L. Gautam, Professor & Head, Department of Critical Care Medicine, DMC&H. The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Gunchan Paul and Dr. Shruti Sharma (Organizing Secretaries), along with Dr. Rubina K. Mahajan and Dr. Amandeep Kaur (Scientific Secretaries). The CME also featured lectures by renowned national faculty members, including Dr. Ashish Bhalla, Chairperson, Punjab Chapter ISCCM; Dr. Sheila Nainan Myatra, Past President, ISCCM; and Dr. Pradip K. Bhattacharya, Past President, ISCCM.
The event was inaugurated by Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society, along with Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics; Dr. Sandeep Sharma and Dr. Ashwani K. Chaudhary (Medical Superintendents); Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent; and Dr. Bishav Mohan, Chief Cardiologist. During the inaugural ceremony, a book titled “Crisis Resource Management and Patient Safety”, authored by Dr. P.L. Gautam and his associates, was also released by Mukesh Verma.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary of the DMC&H Managing Society, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Department of Critical Care Medicine for successfully organizing an event of such academic depth and relevance. He praised the department’s commitment to excellence and emphasized the hospital’s continuous efforts to enhance its critical care facilities and services. He noted that events like these reflect the hospital’s dedication to medical education, training, and patient care, and contribute significantly to the advancement of healthcare standards in the region.
A key highlight of PUNJAB CRITICON 2025 was the Oral Paper and E-Poster presentation, where participants showcased innovative ideas and research in critical care. The CME featured a series of insightful lectures, expert-led panel discussions, and hands-on workshops. These included specialized sessions on Neuro-Monitoring, Electrical Impedance Tomography-Guided Ventilation, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), and more, providing attendees with valuable practical learning experiences.
The CME concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners of the competitions and contributors were felicitated, followed by a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr Shruti Sharma, Organising Secretary, marking the end of a productive and inspiring day of academic exchange.
