DMC&H concludes Infection Prevention Week 2023

Infection prevention measures play a crucial role in keeping the public safe and healthy — protecting from surges in healthcare-associated infections and other infectious threats. Infection prevention week, celebrated each year in the 3rd week of October, aims to shine a light on infection prevention. IPW 2023’s theme is “Celebrating the Fundamentals of Infection Prevention” which highlights getting back to the basics of infection prevention for everybody.

Ludhiana, October 20, 2023: Infection prevention measures play a crucial role in keeping the public safe and healthy — protecting from surges in healthcare-associated infections and other infectious threats. Infection prevention week, celebrated each year in the 3rd week of October, aims to shine a light on infection prevention. IPW 2023’s theme is “Celebrating the Fundamentals of Infection Prevention” which highlights getting back to the basics of infection prevention for everybody.

Because infection prevention is more important than ever in the battle against a global pandemic and to keep the world safe from healthcare-associated infections and outbreaks, DMC&H conducted week-long activities including  awareness sessions and quiz competitions for residents, nursing and MBBS students.

Bipin Gupta appreciated the efforts of the Dept of Microbiology.

Dr. Veenu Gupta, Secretary HICC & Head Microbiology said "we want everyone to remember and celebrate the basics of infection prevention: hand hygiene, proper PPE use, the importance of vaccination, cleaning and disinfection principles, respiratory etiquette, and injection safety!"

Dr. Ashwini Chaudhary, Chairperson HICC & MS told that all staff of DMC& H have worked hard behind the scenes to keep healthcare workers and patients safe from COVID-19 and HAIs.”

Winners of the quiz for PG were Dr Harday Mahajan, Dr yasha Gupta, Dr Sabri where Dr Amanpreet Kaur, Dr Amandeep and Dr Samriti came second.

Winners of the quiz for Nursing were Navneet KAue and Zahid Chaudhary and second position was bagged by Faizan Nazir and Garima Jindal.
